What is Samsung TV Plus?

Samsung TV Plus is a free tv service supported by ads with free live content. Also, a platform for content providers to have their live TV channels where people can watch live linear contents and on-demand videos.

Problem

Samsung TV Plus will have a button on the remote and the current logo has issues with legibility when used on the remote with following the guideline.

Task

Tweak the existing logo to fit into the Samsung remotes without losing legibility.

Logo can’t be compliant with the provided size rule without truncating itself.

In particular, ‘SAMSUNG’ logo is too wide to comply the rule.

Samsung wordmark has a guideline restriction that the height must to be more than 1.4mm.

Product logo lock-ups

All product names are created using Samsung Sharp Sans Bold in black or white only. The height of the first letter of the product name and first “S” in the wordmark are equal (1:1 ratio). Use the rules on this page to ensure maximum lock-up legibility. Lock-ups use the x-height of the product logo type. The x-height is measured from the top to the bottom of the flat parts of lowercase letters.

Within the guideline, these are the explorations for the product luck ups. We couldn’t use Samsung wordmark because of the size restriction so we decided to use Samsung Sharp Sans Bold instead. Headquarters team picked those three options to print on the remote for testing.

Since we cannot use the wordmark and using the different font, we had a concern about the visual consistency if the customer can recognize.
